YA&S Minister inaugurates State Level Theatre Festival 2024

Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy emphasized that drama reflects society and should raise social awareness. At the opening of a state-based drama festival at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, he stressed that drama scripts should address current issues like child marriage, drug addiction, and elderly care. He also highlighted the importance of street dramas to reach people effectively. Subrata Chakraborty, Vice Chairman of the State Cultural Advisory Committee, noted that drama has been a part of Tripura since the Rajya period and plays a role in guiding society. Manik Dutta, a senior drama personality, said cultural practice fosters talent and wisdom. Biplab Barkakati, Regional Director of the National School of Drama, wished success to the festival, which features 34 drama groups and will run for 15 days until December 25. The festival will have two plays daily from Monday to Friday and three on weekends. Over 400 theater workers are involved in the event.
