Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (May 29 – June 12, 2025): Empowering Indian Farmers for a Sustainable Future

Introduction

The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, launched on May 29, 2025, by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, is a 15-day nationwide campaign aimed at transforming Indian agriculture. Running until June 12, this initiative seeks to bridge the gap between agricultural research and field application, promoting sustainable farming practices and raising awareness about key government schemes among the farming community.

Implementation Strategy

The campaign is a collaborative effort involving:

• 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs)
• 113 ICAR Institutes
• State Agricultural Departments
• Local Bodies

Approximately 2,170 expert teams, comprising over 12,000 agricultural scientists and extension personnel, are conducting field visits across more than 700 districts, aiming to reach 1.5 crore farmers.

State-Specific Initiatives

Uttar Pradesh

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the campaign in Lucknow. Approximately 225 expert teams are conducting sessions at 675 locations, aiming to benefit over 47,000 farmers in six districts.

Rajasthan

Focus on promoting mixed cropping and natural farming practices, with officials and scientists visiting villages.

Arunachal Pradesh

Targeting 1,383 villages, aiming to reach around 3 lakh farmers, especially in tribal and climate-sensitive areas.

Ladakh

KVK Nyoma is spearheading efforts to prepare farmers for the Kharif season with high-altitude farming insights.
