North Tripura has shown the whole country how strong community efforts can bring real change. Thanks to the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari program, the district has become the top performer among all North Eastern and Hilly States in water conservation.
What is Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari?
This program was started by the Government of India in 2024 under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. It focuses on saving water by involving people directly. More than 24,000 rainwater harvesting structures are planned under this initiative all across India.
